The Second Annual Southside SummerFest Returns on July 22nd

Marist High School, Chicago’s premier coed Catholic college preparatory high school, once again will host the 2nd annual Southside SummerFest, presented by Marist on Saturday, July 22, from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. The music festival (ages 21+ permitted), now in its second year, will feature three amazing bands, food, and cocktails, all showcased at the Marist Stadium. Southside SummerFest is anticipated to attract more than 4,000 music-lovers from the Chicago area and surrounding suburbs. From Americana to root rock to classic rock, Southside SummerFest is set with an incredible lineup of artists.

Save The Date 2nd Southside SummerFest 

Open to ages 21 and above, this community event is unlike any other in the area, and will open the Marist campus to the entire community. Marist High School is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization; home to 1,600 students; with a roster of more than 20,000 alumni. Money raised at the Southside SummerFest will help to provide scholarships and facility improvements to Marist High School and its students.

“Last year we had over 2,500 people join us for the inaugural Southside SummerFest. We created a new summer tradition on the south side of Chicago and are looking forward to having this festival back at Marist again,” said Chicago Pastor, Fr. Tom Hurley. “It's a winning combination when you bring good music and good people together, everyone has a great time.”

Featured Bands

Southside SummerFest, presented by Marist and Sponsored by Lou Malnati's features bands that will cover music from Americana to pop music to classic rock. The three bands performing include American Pie, Mr. Blotto, and Freddy Jones Band. Details on each band are below:

 

American Pie

American Pie, a south side favorite, plays Americana and other acoustic driven rock. with hits from Mumford, Dave, Zac Brown, Lumineers, Vampire Wee, and more.

Mr. Blotto

Mr. Blotto, known as Chicago's original jam band, plays rootsy good-times music featuring originals by these venerable Chicago jamsters, while playing your favorite Phish, Widepread Panic, Dead, Traffic covers with scads of soul and proficiency. 

Freddy Jones Band

2nd Southside SummerFest for Website

Freddy Jones Band has stood out as one of America’s most noteworthy and revered alternative rock acts for over three decades. In 2023, the band will mark the 30th Anniversary of their biggest hit, “In a Daydream,” which topped the Mainstream Rock Charts in the mid-90’s.

Ticket Sales

Tickets for Southside SummerFest will go on sale June 1st. Advance tickets are available for a reduced rate at $35; Advance ticket sales end Friday, July 21 at 11:55 p.m. Tickets also can be purchased for $40 the day of the event. VIP Admission includes food, drinks, and designated seating on the field for $150 (only 200 VIP passes will be sold). All tickets must be purchased online through GoFan.co.

Please note: The show is designated for ages 21 and over; All ticket are non-refundable. Additionally, no outside food or beverages will be allowed; and chairs are not allowed on the football field, those wishing to sit on the lawn can bring blankets, otherwise seats are available in the stands. All seating is first-come, first-serve. Gates will open 30 minutes before the first performance.
