The Advanced Placement Program at Marist High School:

  • 21 AP Courses offered
  • 31% of students are enrolled in at least one Advanced Placement course this school year
  • Throughout their time at Marist, students may take up to 10 AP courses

“AP represents an opportunity for students to stand out to colleges, earn college credit and placement, and potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools have shown that they can expand access to these college-level courses and still drive high performance – they represent the best of our AP program.”

Courses in the AP track at Marist High School are structured to align with the College Board curriculum focusing on depth of content. Students in these courses are independent learners, self-motivated, and able to complete assignments with minimal guidance. Foundational skills are expected as these courses focus on mastery of advanced concepts and analysis relevant to the topics. Students who enroll in these courses are required to sit for the AP exam in May.

College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond.
